It's the 50th anniversary of the global Special Olympics movement.

The fall tournament brings athletes in half a dozen sports from 50 towns and counties across the Tar Heel State.

Bocce ball is one of the most popular events. There’s also basketball, golf, roller skating, soccer and tennis.

"They're very excited but they're very competitive,” head coach Tappie Dellinger says. “This is a very competitive sport. The bocce fields are always full of excitement and enthusiasm and there is great friendship with the other group of athletes that are here from other counties."

The competition runs through Sunday at 3 p.m. For more information, click here!
