STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Police have accused a worker at a North Carolina daycare of assaulting a 22-month-old after the boy's mother found evidence of injuries.

Police say Jennifer Sanchez said she was looking for a job and enrolled her son at Future Generation Child Development Center, Inc. this week. Sanchez said when she picked up her son, he wasn't acting right. When she got home, she saw injuries to his leg and went to the hospital.

Sanchez also took a picture of what she said appeared to be a hand mark.

Statesville police reviewed surveillance video before arresting Lori Fisher Thursday, charging her with simple assault on a child under 12. She was given a $1,000 bond, and it's not clear if she has an attorney. The owner of the daycare said Fisher was fired.
