A chilly, damp day for the region. The on/off showers will generally be on the lighter side and temperatures will remain fairly steady in the low and mid 50s.

Overnight the skies will clear across the Piedmont but the clouds and intermittent showers will continue in the mountains.

Snow flurries will mix in at times, especially in the highest elevations.

The skies will gradually clear throughout the day on Saturday in the mountains.

The Piedmont areas will enjoy plentiful sunshine Saturday but don't look for the temperatures to warm much. Highs will only reach the mid to upper 50s Saturday, which is about 10 degrees below average.

A Freeze Watch is posted for the region for Sunday morning when temperatures will drop to or below the freezing mark. Sunday will bring sunny skies again but temperatures will only reach the low 50s across the Piedmont and the mid 40s for the mountains.
