LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. -- Sheriff's deputies are investigating a suspicious phone call made to the Mini Academy Day Care in Lincoln Co. on November 6.

  • A phone call came in around 3:27 p.m. from a male who claimed to have information on one of the employees
  • He told the director that her actions would determine whether the employee and daughter are hurt over the coming days
  • As the director attempted to stand up to grab the attention of another employee, so that person could call 911, the caller told her to sit down and not move

According to the director of the day care, a phone call came in around 3:27 p.m. from a male who claimed to have information on one of her employees.

He told her that her actions would determine whether the employee and daughter are hurt over the coming days.

As the director attempted to stand up to grab the attention of another employee, so that person could call 911, the caller told her to sit down and not move, indicating he was likely watching her.

The day care was eventually put on lockdown so all the children could be accounted for. After a headcount, they were picked up by parents.

The caller hung up without any more information. Investigators are still trying to determine his identity.
