BOONE, N.C. – It’s that time again for Christmas tree farms to cut down those trees.

  • If you want a large tree, you should get it early
  • Farmers hope to have the trees on their lots by Thanksgiving
  • The shortage could end in the next few years

With less than two months until Christmas, farmers in the mountain counties say if you want a large tree, you better get them early. Many felt there was a shortage on the large trees last year.

Farmers hope to have the trees on their lots by Thanksgiving.

“Fantastic. We have had massive amounts of rain. The entire season was great. Size, growth, beautiful colors," Cornett Carolina Trees owner Dale Cornet said.

The president of the Christmas Tree Association says the shortage could end in the next few years as many people are planning to start planting.
