CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – The state's top attorney says he wants to make sure the app even he uses regularly is safe.

North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein wrote a letter this week to Mark Zuckerburg asking about Facebook's latest breach.

The social media site confirms 50 million users are affected. The Attorney General told Spectrum News he wants to know how many North Carolinians are compromised.

“I think that it's both a matter of enforcing current laws which i do in the Attorney General's office,” he says. “I think we need to take a fresh look at all of our laws and I'm working with Rep. Jason Saine in the state legislature to do just that."

Stein has asked for an answer to his letter by October 22.
