CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The debate over the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is spilling into the halls of some Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

CMS says a four-letter word was found on a sign over the weekend at South Charlotte Middle School, followed by the name "Kavanaugh."

Brendan Bailey snapped a picture of what appeared to be a sign that mocked the new Supreme Court justice.

"The glass doors on the front of the signs had not been locked. So that if any person was able to take letters off of one side and put them on the other. I mean, you could sort of see it where they used an upside down A for the V,” said Bailey.

CMS tells Spectrum News that staff members removed the sign within an hour of being notified.
