CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Saturday was another very warm day around the region with temperatures well above the October averages. Another very warm day is unfolding today as well, and a few isolated showers and storms remain a possibility.
- Another warm day is on the way Monday with a few showers and storms developing
- We have a good chance of getting some tropical moisture to move through in the Wednesday-Thursday
- In the piedmont, 70s for highs and 50s for lows. In the mountains, 60s for highs and 40s for lows
Another warm day is on the way Monday with a few showers and storms developing, mainly in the afternoon or evening.
A new tropical depression formed off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula early today, and that system will likely steadily strengthen over the next 72 hours. In fact, there is a pretty good chance this system will become a hurricane prior to landfall along the central Gulf Coast mid-week. All interests along the northern Gulf Coast need to closely monitor this system.
For our area, we have a good chance of getting some of that tropical moisture to move through in the Wednesday-Thursday time period. So, at this point, rain chances look very high during that time.
Following that system, a big-time push of cooler weather will likely arrive for Friday and the weekend. At this point in the piedmont, I expect some 70s for highs and 50s for lows. In the mountains, I am looking for some 60s for highs and 40s for lows.... much more October-like!
