CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The University of North Carolina announced a $2 million effort to assist students and families who are affected by Hurricane Florence.

  • $2 million will go toward helping students affected by Florence

The Hurricane Florence Student Relief Fund will provide financial assistance to families who are facing hard times. The school will provide $1 million from the university's trademark licensing revenue and another $1 million will be raised through a philanthropic match, according to a release.

“Today we are sending a clear message to our students who were affected by the devastation of Hurricane Florence and their families: 'We are here for you,'” said Folt. “We’re grateful to be able to create this fund to support our fellow Tar Heels in their time of need.”

Students who attend the university can visit the Student Success Hub in room 2416 at the Carolina Union or send an email to florence@unc.edu.
