SYLVA, N.C. -- A former North Carolina high school assistant football coach is accused of offering the playbook and hand signals of his former team to opposing schools.

  • The superintendent will recommend his resignation be accepted. 

Aaron Tuttle was on the Smoky Mountain High School football staff last year and has since resigned as a teacher’s assistant.

One Jackson County resident was disappointed by the news.

"You're supposed to be a leader in the community for your athletes and your students,” said Ansley Schutters.

The superintendent said she'll recommend that the school board accept Tuttle's resignation on Tuesday.

Tuttle could not be reached for comment.
