NORTH CAROLINA – NASA has released satellite images of the Carolina coasts that show how flooding from Hurricane Florence has polluted the ocean.

  • NASA images show the impact Florence had on coast.
  • Pollutes from flooded areas have caused visible discoloration of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • It is not yet clear if the pollutants are thought to be harmful.

Natural color images show how soils, sediments, decaying leaves, pollution and other debris have discolored the water owing to runoff from swollen rivers, bays and estuaries.
