NORTH CAROLINA -- School districts in areas hit hard by Florence in southeastern North Carolina have already announced closures for all of next week.

The following school districts will be closed from Monday, Sept. 24 through Friday, Sept. 28:

  • Brunswick County Schools
  • Carteret County Schools
  • Duplin County Schools (Thursday and Friday are optional teacher workdays)
  • New Hanover County Schools
  • Onslow County Schools
  • Robeson County Schools
  • Craven County Schools

Wayne County Schools has tentatively closed Monday, Sept. 24 through Tuesday, Sept. 25. They will reopen Wednesday, Sept. 26 and a 2-hour delay will be held for bus drivers until Thursday, Sept. 27.

Columbus County School will be closed for students Sept. 24 and 25 and will resume on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Harnett County Schools and Cumberland County Schools have announced a two-hour delay for Monday.

Pender County and Jones County have announced they are closed "until further notice." 

Bladen County officials announced on Wednesday that they do not anticipate opening anytime before Sept. 26.
