CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Warm high pressure will continue to keep us mainly dry with daily highs 6 to 10 degrees above average through Saturday. A cold front approaching Sunday will allow for the return of unsettled weather.

  • Temperatures will be above average through Saturday.
  • A cold front will be in Sunday.
  • Minimal chances for showers on Friday and Saturday.

Now just two days away from the start of Autumn, many will feel the heat again Thursday as temperatures soar into the upper 80s to low 90s across the Piedmont under sunny skies. All expect the mountains will remain dry, where they could have an isolated shower bubble up by the afternoon.

Other than a very minimal chance for a spot shower Friday and Saturday, we should be dry and warm into the first half of the weekend. A cold front will move through Sunday then stall out into early next work week, allowing for scattered showers and storms to return to the forecast. By Wednesday, a secondary and stronger front will pull through the area, which could lead to a fairly large cool down across the area! It should feel more like Fall by this time next week!
