CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Hurricane Florence has forced more than one million people to evacuate before the storm makes landfall.

  • Karen Hill and her fiance have been planning their wedding for nearly a year and a half
  • The couple plans to get married Saturday in Savannah, GA
  • Their venue has an indoor facility they can use if the weather takes a turn for the worse

One Charlotte bride is braving the storm and heading south to get married.

Karen Hill and her fiance have been planning their wedding for nearly a year and a half. The couple plans to get married Saturday in Savannah, GA.

Hill says she's been keeping an eye on the forecast but some of her guests aren't taking any chances.

"We've had some guests pull back, mostly ones that are traveling into Savannah via plane. I guess the airlines have been sending out a lot of advisories and letting people change their travel. So, we've kind of periodically had people dropping out," Hill says.

The couple is trying to stay positive and roll with the punches until they become husband and wife.

"Everybody says it's supposed to be good luck if it rains on your wedding day, so imagine what a hurricane is," Hill says with a laugh.

Hill says thankfully their venue has an indoor facility they can use if the weather takes a turn for the worse.
