Florence continues to churn in the open Atlantic today.

If you have been following the progress of Florence through the week, you might recall that earlier this week, the system was a major hurricane. However, later in the work week, Florence encountered very hostile upper level winds, and the system weakened all of the way down to a tropical storm.

Don't let that deceive you. The upper level pattern will become much more favorable for strengthening soon, and Florence has an excellent shot of becoming a very significant, likely major, hurricane again over the next few days.

The odds of a Southeast coast landfall from Florence continue to increase. While it is still within the realm of possibility that this makes a right-hand turn prior to reaching the coast, that idea continues to get less likely.

Here's the bottom line.....the Southeast coast, including anywhere along the Carolina coast, could be looking at a very significant hurricane approaching the coast by as early as Wednesday night or Thursday.

Now is the time to make preparations should evacuations be necessary.
