CARY, N.C. -- Cary officials have confirmed the town's second rabies case of 2018.

On Thursday, a Cary resident reported a sick fox in the area. It was later determined that the fox was infected with the rabies virus, and that the resident's dog was possibly exposed. The dog will be given a rabies booster and will be monitored for a 45-day period.

Officials are urging residents to use caution when dealing with suspicious animals and to contact Cary Animal Control immediately if you suspect a rabid animal. Their number is 919-319-4517.
