CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. -- A candidate for Caldwell County sheriff is now behind bars.

• Robert Crump is a candidate for Caldwell County sheriff.
• He and his son were arrested on drug charges.
• Crump says the drugs were not his and he still will continue his sheriff bid. 

Robert Crump and his son were arrested Wednesday night by the State Bureau Investigation. They are facing drug charges.

Crump appeared in court Thursday morning.

He said the drugs were not his and that he still plans to continue running for sheriff despite these charges.

Crump is running against current incumbent Sheriff Alan Jones.
