NORTH CAROLINA -- It may technically still be summer but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start thinking about sweater weather, crisp mornings and crunchy, colorful leaves.

The website SmokyMountains.com has released a fall foliage map, offering a prediction of when you can expect to see the best fall color in your area.

According to the map, the first taste of autumn in N.C. will be “minimal” color in the mountains around Oct. 1. By Oct. 8, all areas of North Carolina should see at least some color, the map reveals.

By Oct. 22, most of the mountains are expected to be near peak, with the rest of the state experiencing partial color.

The Triad, Triangle and Charlotte regions are expected to hit peak right around Nov. 5.
