Thursday put another day in the books of 90-degree highs in Charlotte for the sixth day in a row.

Friday will feature similarly hot conditions with a small chance for scattered afternoon storms as a cold front stalls to the north of the state.

We are heading into a hot and humid weekend. Expect highs to soar right back into the low to mid 90s this afternoon with heat indexes in the mid to upper 90s. Like the past few days, we'll look for a greater chance for afternoon scattered storms in the mountains, but a few could fire up here across the Piedmont into early on this evening.

Labor Day weekend plans should be okay, though one should be aware that scattered, hit-and-miss storms will be possible both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Daytime highs will remain near 90 degrees through Labor Day. Labor Day should feature a smaller chance for storms compared to Saturday and Sunday, though the same opportunities will continue in the mountains.

Get used to the heat... looks like its here to stay well into the first week of September!
