RALEIGH, N.C. -- Next time you visit a City of Raleigh building to pay your bills or attend a meeting, you might want to arrive early.

  • New security changes coming after Labor Day
  • City is spending $180,000 to double security at several buildings
  • Delivery personnel, visitors and those attending public meetings will have to check in

That's because after Labor Day, there will be new security changes. Starting Sept. 4, delivery personnel, visitors and those attending public meetings at City Hall will have to check-in at the guard desks on either the first or third floors.

The city is spending $180,000 to more than double security guards at the Raleigh Municipal Building, One Exchange Plaza and the Dillon building.

All three city buildings will be open to the public from 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, starting after Labor Day, with extended hours for public meetings.
