NORTH CAROLINA -- An 18-page indictment lists the names and charges for 15 people indicted at the end of July for drug charges in the Middle district of North Carolina.

  • Investigators said this is the second roundup in this case
  • The investigation has uncovered at least 41 kilos of meth, 79 kilos of cocaine, half a kilo of heroin, as well as more than $42,000
  • The investigation is still ongoing and U.S. attorneys say more names and charges could be coming

Investigators said this is the second roundup in this case and there are still more to come.

Since the investigation is still underway, U.S. attorneys could not give specific details. However, they did say it spans multiple states, including Washington state, South Carolina, New Jersey, California and of course North Carolina.

The first set of indictments in the case were brought in February of 2017, when 32 individuals were indicted for drug charges involving meth, cocaine and heroin.

According to attorneys, 31 of those 32 people are now serving time in federal prison.

Investigators say both groups of indictments and the investigations they involve have uncovered at least 41 kilos of meth, 79 kilos of cocaine, half a kilo of heroin, as well as more than $42,000.

"This is a large amount but it's not unique to communities like Rowan County of the same size," said U.S. Attorney Matt Martin. "You're seeing drug trafficking of this sort especially along some of the major highways and byways, so this is a battle."

Once again the investigation is still ongoing and the U.S. attorneys say more names and charges could be coming.
