A cold front is very slowly approaching the region from the northwest, and that will remain a factor in our weather right into early next work week.

For today, look for scattered showers and storms, most numerous during the afternoon and early evening hours. It will be a warm day with piedmont highs well into the 80s and mountain highs in the 70s.

Our Sunday weather looks very similar with warm, humid conditions, as well as a pretty healthy coverage of scattered showers and storms.

A few storms later today and Sunday could be locally strong to severe. I don't expect widespread severe weather problems, but a few storms could produce some damaging gusts of wind.

The chances for scattered showers and storms remain with us Monday and Tuesday, but eventually next week, we will have some cooler and drier air settle in. At this point, Thursday and Friday are looking extremely nice, considering the time of year.
