CHARLOTTE, N.C.- - After we received measurable rainfall almost everyday of last work week, we're finally enjoying a nice stretch of mostly storm-free conditions. This quieter weather pattern will stick around through Wednesday and most of Thursday before afternoon storms become likely yet again by the end of the work week and weekend.

  • Quieter weather pattern remains.
  • Afternoon storms will return for late work week and weekend.
  • Scattered storms will be paired with muggy, seasonable temperatures.

A ridge of high pressure continues to build across the Southeast briefly Wednesday, allowing for a day of lots of sunshine and minimal storm chances. Expect some scattered cumulus clouds to develop by this afternoon with a very small chance for an isolated shower or two here across the Piedmont with slightly better chances across the mountains (though even that chance will be fairly slim). Highs will be a tad warmer compared to Tuesday, with some topping off in the lower 90s and mid to upper 80s elsewhere.

Beginning Thursday, a system approaching from the west and strengthening Bermuda high pressure will allow for a gradual increase in moisture. While storms chances will still remain on the very low side for Thursday, expect them to ramp up by Friday afternoon and especially over the weekend. We return to the same weather pattern that we had last week, with afternoon scattered storms becoming likely Saturday and Sunday paired with seasonable, but muggy, daytime highs.
