CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police in Charlotte and surrounding areas are working several cases after very violent weekend.

  • Police are investigating deaths in north Charlotte, Concord and Rock Hill.
  • Two others were injured in the Concord shooting outside of an event space.
  • Rock Hill's homicide is just its second this year.

Charlotte police are investigating a homicide, while Rock Hill and Concord police are both investigating deadly shootings.

A grandmother found her grandson unresponsive Sunday morning in north Charlotte. Investigators say she found 23-year-old Justin Miller inside a home on Farlow Road just after 9:30, and according to police, several others were inside the home at the time.

"Right now we're in the very early stages, trying to interview people inside the home. We do have several people who were inside the home overnight and trying to determine exactly what did happen inside the home,” said CMPD Maj. Mike Smathers.

Officers in Concord are also investigating a shooting outside of an event space in Concord, killing one person.

Police say a fight started at the Magnificent Jewel in the Union Plaza Shopping Center early Sunday morning, ending with three people being shot. Two people are recovering, but the third shooting victim, 31-year-old Willie Peck III, died.

Police are still trying to figure out why the fight started and who opened fire.

Rock Hill are police continuing their investigation into a homicide Sunday in Rock Hill. Police say it happened around 11:30 a.m. on Celanese Road.

When they arrived, they found the victim shot to death. It is the city's second homicide this year.

Police say the suspect ran away from the scene. No arrests have been made. All of these investigations are still in the very early stages.
