CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- With day after day of typical summertime afternoon and evening storms, Thursday will feature a break from the active weather for many across the region.

  • Thursday will have a break from storms for most.
  • Rain chances will remain at a minimum.
  • Unsettled weather will bake a comeback for the weekend though.

This won't last long, however, as we return with the same unsettled weather pattern that we dealt with through the first half of the week for the upcoming weekend.

With winds coming out of a more westerly direction today, expect some drier air to mix into the area, lowering storm chance from what we've seen each day since Monday. While we can't quite rule out an isolated storm across the southern Piedmont or in the mountains late this afternoon, most will enjoy a dry day under plenty of sunshine. While daytime highs will remain about as hot as they have been over the past few days, humidity won't be quite as high. Highs, nevertheless, will still reach into the 90s for many.

Friday into the weekend will bring the return of daily rain and storm chances as a frontal boundary stalls across the region. As for the heat? Well, it looks like its not going anywhere anytime soon with daytime highs remaining in the upper 80s to low 90s for the next few days.
