Wednesday will be very similar to both Monday and Tuesday: hot, humid, with more scattered storms lined up for this afternoon and evening.

  • A similar weather pattern will persist for Wednesday.
  • Scattered storms are possible for the afternoon and evening.
  • Thursday should have a smaller chance for storms.

Weak high pressure in place across the Southeast today will support the same muggy, hot airmass we've dealt with since the beginning of the week. Expect another day of 90-degree highs and heat indices in the upper 90s to over 100 for some. Another round of storms will fire up in the mountains by midday then propagate eastward into the Piedmont and Charlotte-metro by late this afternoon and early this evening. Frequent lightning and local heavy downpours will again be a concern. A few storms may even become severe and pack strong, damaging winds.

Thursday should feature a quieter day, with smaller chances for storms. Rain and storm chances increase yet again Friday into the weekend and early next week as a cold front moves in the settles across the area. Conditions will remain hot and humid, with daytime highs remaining in the mid 80s to low 90s.
