McSwain began playing the drums at a very young age for the Cleveland County group “Keys of Harmony”.

Members of the group say they're heartbroken to hear of the news.

“Carlos was very, very humble. He was famous and didn't even know it. He would still come to Shelby and mingle with everybody,” said member Dee Hunt.

McSwain had a 14-year-old daughter who still lives in Shelby.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
