TAMPA, Fla. --As expected, Chris is no longer a tropical storm.

The final advisory has been issued.

It is a powerful non-tropical system racing toward Newfoundland.

Chris is producing heavy rain there which may cause flash flooding.

Even though Chris is moving even farther away from the United States, swells generated by the storm will continue to affect portions of the U.S. east coast from North Carolina northward to New England during the next couple of days.  These swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
