CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Douglas International Airport is showing off its new $200 million concourse.

  • Charlotte Douglas has a new $200 million concourse.
  • The new concourse has more space, new food options and new technology.
  • The first flight from the concourse took off Wednesday.

Concourse A offers travelers more space, new food options and new technology -- including power ports in every seat.

The expansion also includes nine new gates, something the aviation director says was much needed.

"This terminal represents about 10 percent increase in gate capacity at Charlotte Douglas. As the city has grown, air traffic demand, demand for air traffic has grown. We know there is demand in our market and from all of our airlines to continue to grow, so this helps us satisfy that,” said Brett Cagle, aviation director.
