RALEIGH, N.C. – After several delays, Raleigh’s new train station is finally open.

  • All Amtrak service was moved overnight.
  • The new address is 510 West Martin Street.
  • Parking is available nearby.

Union Station had been delayed most recently by an issue with the slope of the platform.

The station was originally expected to be finished in late 2017.

Amtrak service switched in the early morning hours Tuesday to the new location at 510 West Martin Street.

Officials said the new 26,000 square foot building better accommodates the city’s needs for the future.

Long term parking is available at 223 South West Street. Parking is $2 an hour with a maximum of $18 a day.

Short term parking is available immediately in front of the station. Parking will cost $1.25 per hour and there is a two-hour limit.

Now that Union Station is open, the old train station across the tracks on Cabarrus Street is officially out of service.

It was built back in 1950 for the Southern Railway.

Amtrak had called the aging terminal too small for trains since the 1990s and soon the depot will be demolished.
