NORTH CAROLINA -- The heat wave persists Sunday to kick off the month of July, with above average temperatures and high humidity continuing through the end of the work week.

  • Rain chances rather minimal for the next several days
  • Highs will soar into the low to mid 90s with dew points in the low 70s
  • Monday through the Fourth of July will bring very similar days in term of weather

High pressure across the upper levels of the atmosphere will also keep rain chances rather minimal for the next several days.

Sunday will feature more of the same: hot and humid, with only isolated chances for showers and storms. Highs will soar into the low to mid 90s with dew points in the low 70s.

Better chances for showers and embedded weak thunderstorms will exist for areas west of I-77 late this afternoon and early this evening with a weak upslope flow in place.

Monday through the Fourth of July will bring very similar days in term of weather. Expect a slight uptick in rain chances by the end of the work week, with perhaps even a small cool down by the end of next week.
