CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Another development may be coming to Charlotte's Midtown area.

  • The development would bring office and retail space, as well as a hotel.
  • It would be the biggest building in Midtown and the second-biggest building outside of Uptown.
  • Several business and a Novant Health building would have to relocate.

The city's zoning committee approved a recommendation for a 20-story building near Third Street, Fourth Street and Baldwin Avenue.

It will feature more than 520,000 sq. feet of office and retail space and a 240-room hotel. It would force businesses and a Novant Health building to relocate.

The developers have pledged thousands of dollars for improvements in the area, including pedestrian improvements and a neighborhood park.

It would be the tallest building in the Midtown neighborhood. After South End's The Kimpton, the building would be second-tallest outside of Uptown.
