Plenty of sunshine to warm things up across the Tar Heel State as we kick off Father's Day weekend.

We finished off the work week with near normal highs but we'll be seeing some hot days for the week ahead.  Highs will range from the upper 80s to low 90s across the region, if you are looking for relief from the heat, highs will be in the mid 80s for most of North Carolinas beaches.  But be careful; there is a moderate rip current risk along the southern beaches for Saturday.

Temperatures will continue to climb over the next couple of days peaking on Tuesday and as highs reach into the mid and upper 90s, we'll see Heat Index Values ranging from 102 to 106. We'll hit-or-miss afternoon and evening thunderstorms through the period fueled by those hot temperatures.
