CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Despite reports of possible spiked drinks, police are assuring anyone going out to bars and nightclubs uptown that things are safe.

  • CMPD says, at this point, they have no proof that anyone has ever been drugged at the epicenter
  • No toxicology tests have come back positive
  • CMPD would not say if they are waiting on toxicology tests regarding two other cases

CMPD says, at this point, they have no proof that anyone has ever been drugged at the Epicentre.

No toxicology tests have come back positive.

Previously, a 23-year-old woman reported to police that she began to feel ill and blacked out after a man she didn't know bought her and her friends drinks.

That woman was taken to the hospital, where she told officers she had not been injured or sexually assaulted.

CMPD says they train bar management and staff on spotting people who may be incapacitated, so that off duty officers who patrol around the epicenter can make sure everyone is safe.

CMPD would not say if they are waiting on toxicology tests regarding two other cases.

The chief risk officer for many of the Epicentre's bars said they are in the process of purchasing lids for drinks, if a patron wants one.
