PERSON COUNTY, N.C. -- A Roxboro man is behind bars for sex crimes involving a minor following a major federal operation.

  • 2,300 people were arrested during a federal child sex crimes operation by DOJ.
  • Andre Thorpe of Roxboro was among them.
  • He faces up to life in prison.

The U.S. Department of Justice recently concluded Operation "Broken Heart" in which 2,300 suspected online child sex offenders were arrested. 

Included in the arrests was Andre Thorpe, 35, from Roxboro, North Carolina. 

Thorpe is charged on seven counts involving child exploitation, including four counts of production of child pornography, two counts of transporting a minor via interstate with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and one count of possession of child pornography.

If convicted, Thorpe faces between 15 years to life in prison.
