ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. -- Searchers have recovered the body of a man who disappeared Sunday night following a boating accident on Saxapahaw Lake.

• Officials have identified the man as 21-year-old Joseph Taylor Smith.
• Sonar was used to locate the man.
• Smith was not wearing a life jacket.

Wildlife officials have identified the man as 21-year-old Joseph Taylor Smith.

Officials say a group of four friends were kayaking on the lake when Smith's boat overturned. 

Officials say Smith was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

Crews were out searching for Smith with sonar and dive teams.
