RALEIGH -- Governor Roy Cooper announced Wednesday afternoon that he has vetoed the state budget passed by the Senate and House.

  • Gov. Cooper has vetoed the proposed state budget.
  • He claims it does not address teacher needs.
  • Budget was passed by Republican-lead House and Senate.

Cooper says the budget-making process was unfair and did not consult with Democrats.

Additionally, Cooper stated the budget ignores teacher requests for additional funding at the benefit of corporations and the wealthy.

As a counter, Cooper suggests freezing tax breaks for the wealthy to pay for education funding.
