CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Employers need talent to fill one of the country’s largest skills gaps.

  • Nearly 750,000 tech jobs are available in the U.S.
  • 20,000 tech jobs available in North Carolina
  • Median data-security analyst salary is about $121,000

Organizations set up at Pfeiffer University for the Come Tech Out Charlotte job fair.

There's more than 740,000 open tech jobs in the U.S., according to NC Tech. 20,000 of those jobs are in North Carolina. And over the past year, openings for information security analysts in the state have grown nearly 70 percent.

Talent recruitment firm, Vaco says it's seeing the demand from companies outside the tech industry as well.

“No matter if you’re a small company, large enterprise, you can be hacked,” Vaco senior director of technology talent solutions Jonah Dimeo said. “And therefore you don’t want your data to be out there for your customers or internal data. So the demand is everywhere."

Dimeo says cyber security has less than a 3 percent unemployment rate in Charlotte.

The median data-security analyst salary is about $121,000 according to Linkedin.
