DURHAM, N.C. -- An inmate is dead after he was found unresponsive at Durham County Detention Facility Sunday morning.

• Found after 8 a.m. in cell
• Identity not released yet
• SBI investigating

The inmate, whose identity has not been released, was found unresponsive in his cell just after 8 a.m.

First responders gave aid until paramedics arrived, but he was declared deceased.

SBI is taking over the investigation.

The inmates identity will be released once next of kin is notified.
