SALISBURY, N.C. -- To honor fallen heroes, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts troops placed flags at the graves at the Salisbury National Cemetery Saturday morning.

  • Flags placed at every veteran's grave
  • It is a way to remind children that Memorial Day isn't just a day off school
  • A Memorial Day program will be held Monday at 10 a.m.

It gave scouts a chance to learn stories of veteran’s right in the area. By honoring the soldiers, they say it helped remind them of the sacrifices made for their freedom.

“We can do the stuff we always wanted to do,” says Raleigh Scheffer. “If we don’t have freedom then we couldn’t do everything.”

The Salisbury National Cemetery will hold a Memorial Day program Monday at 10 a.m.
