JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -- Officials are investigating vandalism that left Jacksonville’s Freedom Fountain damaged just days before Memorial Day.

  • Underwater lights and wiring damaged.
  • Fountain is out of service.
  • Police are looking for suspects.

City officials say vandals broke most of the underwater lights and pulled wiring from the upper basin of the fountain.

They say the fountain will not be working for some time.

The fountain was created to honor all of those who have served for the U.S. especially those who have passed through Onslow County in service to their country.

Jacksonville police are still looking for suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (910) 938-3273.
