CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. -- A man is being held without bond in Cleveland County, accused of killing a seven-month-old baby boy.

  • Garrett Frederick is accused of killing the seven-month-old baby.
  • The parents left Frederick to babysit the child.
  • He is charged with first degree murder.

According to the sheriff's office, 24-year-old Garrett Frederick was babysitting the child Monday night.

When the parents came home, Frederick told them something was wrong with the child and left once the parents called 911.

The baby was taken to the hospital where doctors determined there were trauma-related injuries, and even if the child survived, he would likely be brain-dead because of the trauma.

Frederick was arrested Monday afternoon, and is charged with first degree murder.
