ROWAN COUNTY-Two people are in the rowan county jail after a traffic stop leads to the discovery of thousands of dollars worth of methamphetamine.

Investigators say Brock Rowe and Ashley Sanders were in possession of about $10,000 worth of drugs.

280 grams of that was methamphetamine.

But Rowan County isn't the only area seeing an increase of trafficking.

Deputies say I-85 is causing major trafficking problems.

Even going so far as to call the road the ‘Meth highway’.

And the demand is as high as ever for methamphetamine in the state due to the high level of addiction in North Carolina.

“A lot of them are self-medicating with methamphetamine to get off of heroin,” says Chief Deputy David Ramsey with the Rowan County Sheriff’s office. “So they are basically, it’s a double edge sword there.”

Both Rowe and Sanders are being held at the Rowan County detention center with a $500,000 bond.
