NORTH CAROLINA -- A 10 person team of emergency managers and fire service officials departed Saturday for Hawaii as a response to the erupting Kilauea volcano.

  • Team will serve for a total of 14 days
  • Come from emergency management agencies in Bladen, Gates, Lee, McDowell, Moore and Onslow counties, as well as fire departments in Cary, Charlotte, and Greensboro.
  • Will work from an emergency operations center in Hilo supporting the Hawaii County Defense agency

The team will work from an emergency operations center in Hilo supporting the Hawaii County Defense agency.

Team members come from emergency management agencies in Bladen, Gates, Lee, McDowell, Moore, and Onslow counties, as well as fire departments in Cary, Charlotte, and Greensboro.

The team will serve for a total of 14 days before returning home.
