The Southeast continues to remain entrenched in a moist, unstable airmass that will lead to more of the same weather that we've had for the past week: warm, humid, with daily chances for showers and storms.

  • Daily chances for rain
  • Rain and storm chances are smaller Monday for lower elevations
  • Tuesday and Wednesday are the better chances for storms

Monday will bring another day of very muggy conditions. With dew points in the mid and upper 60s and highs warming into the mid 80s for many across the Piedmont by this afternoon, Monday afternoon will feel quite humid. Rain and storm chances, however, will be smaller -- at least for the lower elevations. Most in the Piedmont should remain dry under mostly cloudy skies with a better chance for afternoon shower and storm development in the mountains.

Tuesday into Wednesday will bring a better chance for afternoon showers and storms region-wide with temperatures remaining consistent. Thursday will likely feature a brief lull in the action before moisture begins to crank back up across the region heading into Memorial Day weekend thanks to some anticipated tropical development in the northern Gulf late in the week. For those of you with holiday plans, stay tuned! The forecast is certainly looking wet Saturday through Memorial Day and will continue to be tweeked further down the road.
