CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- No one was injured in an officer-involved shooting in east Charlotte Tuesday morning.

  • The shooting took place near Idlewild Road.
  • CMPD responded to a call about a suicidal person early Tuesday morning.
  • An officer fired his weapon but the subject was not hit. 

It started with a heavy police presence on Idlebrook Drive near Idlewild Road.

CMPD says officers responded to a call about a suicidal person at 3:45 a.m. When they entered the home, they encountered a man with a gun. An officer “perceived an imminent threat” and fired his weapon, but the subject was not struck.

Timothy Hunter, 41, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. After being charged, he was transported to the Mecklenberg County Intake Center. The officer who fired the weapon is Officer Robert Land and another officer who responded was Officer Anderson Brown. Per department protocol, both have been placed on paid Administrative Leave.
