CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It was a violent weekend in Charlotte as CMPD responded to multiple shootings. The most recent deadly crime happened Monday morning at the Garden Inn and Suites on Reagan Drive next to I-77 in north Charlotte.

  • Three murders in three days
  • Violence centered to north and west Charlotte
  • CMPD said it needs the community's help to tackle problems before they escalate

Police came at 10:30 Monday morning and found a man dead inside one of the rooms.

CMPD doesn't know what led to the man's death but said there were signs of a struggle and it’s a homicide investigation.

It follows a weekend of violence in Charlotte.

“We're continuing to see people resorting to violence to settle their differences and that's our biggest concern,” said CMPD Major Mike Campagna.

It's the third murder in three days. Seven people were injured in six different incidents.

“All of the incidents that we've seen so far haven't been related, in fact there are very differing reasons for why these are happening,” Campagna said.

The violence this weekend centered in north and west Charlotte.

It started Saturday afternoon when 20-year-old Gavino Romero died after multiple suspects opened fire on a black mustang, causing the car to slam into an apartment building, according to CMPD. Four teenagers are charged in the case.

“We believe there was a robbery involved. We're not sure why these people came together,” Campagna said.

The next crime happened later that night when police found the body of 36-year-old Nicholas Boger under a car.

Around 2:00 Sunday morning three people were shot and injured at a party outside of SMS Catering Service on Norland Road.

Sunday afternoon,  three more people were shot on Irma Street off La Salle in north Charlotte.

Another shooting investigation happened Monday morning. One person was shot off West Sugar Creek Rd. At the BP Gas Station, according to CMPD.

CMPD said it needs the community's help to tackle problems before they escalate.

“When they see things that are bubbling up, when they see conflicts that are arising, don't let those things play out, someone get involved,” Campagna said.

This is the 22nd murder this year which is down from 30 at this time last year, according to CMPD.
