CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two 19-year-olds and two 15-year-olds are in custody in connection to a deadly shooting in Charlotte on Saturday afternoon.

  • Three people were in a vehicle when the shooting happened
  • One person is dead, another one is injured
  • Residents say violence is a problem in the area

Nineteen-year-olds Primitivo Carreto and Chadwick Pearson and the other suspects are charged with murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department says officers were called to the Perth Court where a car had slammed into a porch after its driver was shot and lost control.

Officers found two men with gunshot wounds. One of them, Gavino Miguel Romero, died at the scene. Police say the men were shot while in the car with a third person, who was not hurt.

Investigators soon learned the suspects were at a nearby location on Lanecrest Drive. After a brief standoff, the suspects surrendered.

Residents of the complex where the shooting happened say violence is a big problem there.
