CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Saturday's are for CSS and HTML. A group of girls learned everything from prototyping to coding at ChickTech Charlotte's inaugural high school program.

  • Organizers plan to expand the program into year-round workshops
  • Two dozen girls attended
  • Organizers want young girls to consider a career in tech

The event encouraged the young women to look at a development design process from start to finish and encourage them to consider this field as a career down the road.

"We're talking about an interest that's very low when it comes to high school girls. When you're talking about something that literally shapes the world we live in, we want women involved just as much as any other,” said Charlotte director Rachel Chesley

The Charlotte chapter expects to expand the program into year-round workshops come fall.
