A cold front swept through the Carolinas Thursday, bringing a cold and drier airmass in behind it. With this airmass now in place -- and anticipated to hold steady over the next few days -- expect a stretch of sunny, but cooler weather that will persist over the weekend.

After a cold start to Friday, temperatures will rebound into the mid and upper 60s under plenty of sunshine with upper 50s in the mountains. Winds will also be much calmer Friday compared to Thursday as high pressure continues to overspread the region. Saturday will feature very similar weather. A few passing high level clouds will be possible through the day and temperatures will be just a tad warmer than Friday's. Sunday will feature an increase in cloud cover, but all should remain dry through the course of the entire weekend.

An area of low pressure developing over the Southern Plains will scoot northward towards the Carolinas Monday, bringing chances for showers back to the forecast. We'll start next work week off to a wet and cool start, with daily chances for rain, abundant cloud cover, and temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s expected through Tuesday. Rain chances will begin to dwindle a bit by Wednesday, but it appears we could be looking at additional chances for showers through Friday.
